We are using Software and Ai & a few Sustainability Officers & 2 Universities to help map the footprint of Food waste in FNQ so we can help the local industry move towards Carbon Neutral Tourism.

That is what we are focusing on in 2023-2025 in a big way through our Circular Resource Flow Pilot - Tourism Food Waste.   We are running towards a 2030 goal but I just have to have 1 years data under my belt before we can do any kind of forecasting.

We will be also developing a Sustainability Report and carbon footprint calculator for both the participating businesses of our pilot & those that are interested in doing it outside the pilot.  Being on the edge of a food bowl, contributing the data to the Food Cluster that is developing in FNQ through our customised consult for Resorts, MUDs - Multiple Unit Dwellings and Marinas is our key niche. 

We are transitioning to a Social Enterprise by the end of 2022 which means the services we offer through our Sustainability Officers for decarbonising our niche clients that will provide a blue Ocean strategy for the committee to make revenue from that in that will turn redistribute 50% of profits with the Community Groups.  We are starting with that % and will review that over the lifespan of the committee.

Our key asset will be data.   We are also developing a license structure service that will allow sustainability officers around Australia to deliver this service to the regions that are on food bowls or have the niche businesses we are working with.

What we are doing is in align with the National Waste Levy, The QLD Organics Strategy and the Smart Green Economy that Cairns Regional council is working to achieve.  Mission Economy, written by Mariana Muzzicato an economist that uses the Apollo Mission as an example of how R&D and collaboration between business and government helped make the impossible possible.  We need that kind of energy at the moment to hit the 1.5 Paris Agreement target.

Not going to lie, it's looking a bit shit.  But data and radical collaboration can tip an exponential curve that may just get us across the line if we reduce waste, process it in place, share assets and insights and measure what matters to make big change happen without leaving anyone behind.  That's why we are a social enterprise, that's the leaving no one behind part.
